England's Royal Cities
in the Cotswolds

This is a vacation for the connoisseur. It takes you through 800 years of English Royalty from the Domesday Book signed by William the Conqueror in Gloucester Cathedral (1085), through to the Oxford Colleges endowed by Henry VIII (1560), to Shakespeare's home in Stratford, and Bath's famous Spa waters built for the Prince Regent (1800's).

Tuesday
You start by visiting the famous colleges at Oxford, You are given your own map and written guide, so you can choose your own pace and pathway through more than 30 colleges, churches, libraries and museums. You have the chance to ride in a punt on the river around College Gardens, and take a Cream Tea in a traditional tea house.

Wednesday
Today you travel back in time to "God's little acre", the precincts of Gloucester Cathedral, unchanged for 500 years. You see King Edward II's burial place, and rooms where Richard II held his Parliament. A guided tour of the Cathedral includes the famous cloisters (seen in Harry Potter films) before you visit the Taylor of Gloucester's shop in the Cathedral mews. After a visit to the docks, you have time to shop in Cheltenham's regency town centre.

Thursday
Today you travel North to Stratford-upon-Avon, home to the Royal Shakespeare Company. You are given your own map and written guide, so you can visit Ann Hathaway's cottage, the different stage gardens and river sites, before returning to Sudeley Castle, with its ten royal gardens - including the Knot Garden, White Garden and many more.

Friday
Today the famous city of Bath, with its Royal terraces and Regency buildings - unforgettably characterized in novels by Jane Austen. You are given your own map and written guide, so that again you have the freedom to choose between Roman Baths, the rapids at Pulteney Bridge, historic Bath Abbey and the little known home to Schwarzerneger. You can visit Bath's splendid shops like Jolly's before taking a Cream Tea in the Royal Terrace.
